Welcome to southbaybubble, a discussion on the Los Angeles South Bay area and the bubble created from LAX to the Redondo Beach Harbor. If you live here, there is a good chance that you happily keep yourself stationed within a 5 mile radius and prefer walking to local restaurants, bars and beaches rather than drive to Santa Monica or even crazier Hollywood! If you do, people may make comments like "wow, you drove all the way up here?" or "wow, you came from the South Bay, that's like a million miles away!"
You've probably visited Sharkeez a few times... this week. Or if you're the married with children type, jogged with your stroller on the strand and competed with the neighborhood for best 6th birthday party ever. You may have checked out Manhattan Beach 6 man, wearing metallic Speedos or a Mexican wrestler's mask. Or participated in one of the many intramural sports such as softball, football, kickball, volleyball, soccer and the list goes on. You can't resist Shore on a Saturday night no matter how hard you try and birthdays and bar crawls always come with a theme.
The South Bay is hard to leave when it's such a part of you and everywhere you go someone actually does know your name, and gives you free drinks/jello shots, has shared a cab with you, driven you to the hospital, hooked up with your ex... wait. Okay, so sometimes the bubble can get to you. But through your love/hate relationship with the South Bay you know it's the best for you right now. Life can't get any better, can it?
So let's keep it real, share some stories, and live it up while we're here. We've got nothing else but to appreciate and make memories in this bubble we choose to live in. Or maybe, just maybe, the bubble chooses us.
